How to submit
Pattern Books - Standard pattern books require seven to nine coordinated designs.  If designs are small items, such as magnets, a book could contain as many as 20-30 designs.  Use the materials of your choice keeping in mind cost and customer appeal.

Please send your completed projects of photos along with:
We plan new projects 8-12 months in advance of publication date, so please keep this in mind when submitting. A review schedule is enclosed for your reference.  We usually hold design reviews once a week on Thursday.

Contracts & Payment
When your design is accepted, we will send you a purchase agreement with our payment offer along with a self-addressed return envelope.  If the agreement is acceptable to you, simply make sure all the personal information is correct and sign where indicated.  Keep a photocopy for your records and return the original to us in the pre-addressed envelope.  Payment will be sent within 45 days from the date we receive the signed agreement.  Amount will be determined by originality, creativity, workmanship and quality of written instructions.

Many yarn manufacturers are willing to split the designer fee with the publisher.  If a split fee arrangement is agreed upon, the designer is responsible for collecting payment from the manufacturer.  House of White Birches is responsible for its portion of the payment only.

Return of Designs
We will review your designs as they come in, issue agreements and return all designs we are unable to use within a month.  If we need to hold over a design for further review, we will let you know.  If you do not want us to hold your design, we will return it immediately.

Purchased designs will be returned to you after they are published, along with six complimentary copies of the publication.  All manuscripts, diagrams, etc. remain the property of House of White Birches.  Since we purchase all rights to designs, designers should not sell the purchased design or one very similar to it to another publication.

If you have any further questions, please call Vicki Blizzard at (219) 589-4000 or write to the address given above.
